The clever marketing team at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée is offering “deluxe king” rooms for $600 and up to globe-trotting diplomats and do-gooders from nongovernmental organizations, who are dedicated to “gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.”

With uplifting photos of UN peacekeepers helping children in Africa, the hotel is touting its beauty spa and nearby shopping at Chanel, Hermès, Tiffany and Barneys.
