Grant Whitmore, the Tronc exec who fired more than 50 Daily News staffers[1] on Monday, isn’t letting their unemployment dampen his upcoming wedding celebration.
Whitmore is marrying Kristen Schreck, who used to work at the News, on Aug. 10 at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, NJ.
Festivities include cocktails, dinner, a midnight after-party and brunch the following day.
The couple’s wedding website notes their love of travel to Vieques, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Miami and especially Napa — “a place that has become an annual pilgrimage for the couple as they explore the vineyards and tasting rooms of their favorite winemakers.”
One ex-Newser, who won’t be vacationing much farther than Coney Island, groused, “Maybe he’ll let the fired workers eat wedding cake.”
