Cuba Gooding Jr. recently revived the most famous line from his Oscar-winning performance in the 1996 movie “Jerry Maguire” at an unlikely location.
In the film, Jerry (Tom Cruise) is a sports agent trying to get football player Rod Tidwell (Gooding) a better contract.
On Tuesday night, the 50-year-old actor arrived at Marie’s Crisis Cafe, the West Village show-tunes-singalong piano bar, at 2 a.m., and asked pianist Franca Vercelloni to play songs from “Cabaret,” which he said is one of his favorite musicals.
The piano player happily obliged.
And as she tickled the ivories to “Maybe This Time,” a grateful Gooding hoisted Vercelloni’s tip jar above his head and shouted, “Show me the money!”
