The divorce of Libbie and David Mugrabi[1] has become dangerous.

The couple’s battle over their art collection and their $72 million townhouse has caught the notice of a would-be extortionist who made death threats and demanded a bitcoin payment of $50,000, sources say.

Libbie, 39, and her sister Mia Rowe received anonymous e-mails claiming Libbie’s life is in danger.

“We do not have the luxury of time here,” said one message I have seen. “The threat against Libbie is real!”

David’s art-collecting father Jose is reportedly worth $5 billion, owning up to 1,000 works by Andy Warhol.

Sources say Libbie obtained a court order last week forcing David — who is already paying $200,000 a month in maintenance and child support — to provide increased security.

In a joint statement, the couple said, “The Mugrabis are committed to the health, safety and welfare of their family.

Anonymous e-mails alleging threats against Mrs. Mugrabi’s safety were received and appear to be extortion, and prudent precautions have been taken for the well-being of the family.”

Their marriage imploded in July, at the couple’s nine-bedroom East Hampton estate, when David, 47, went skinny-dipping with an unnamed brunette[2], as Libbie slept upstairs.

Libbie later confronted the woman as the nanny for their two children recorded the encounter.

The couple, who have no pre-nup, are fighting over an art collection of works by Basquiat, Warhol, George Condo and Keith Haring.
