Kristina Stewart Ward is the new editor-in-chief of Avenue magazine.[1]
The veteran of Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Hamptons and Quest was picked to replace Michael Gross[2] by the magazine’s new owner, real estate tycoon Charles S. Cohen.
Cohen shut down the luxury lifestyle glossy in December[3] and let go the entire staff with plans to start afresh with the September issue.
“She brings real heft to Avenue, which is fitting given the magazine’s impressive readership,” Cohen said of Stewart Ward.
“Charles is remarkable at transforming heritage brands, so I feel fortunate to be joining this team,” said the mother of two.
In a first-person piece for Vogue in 2007, after she married Arthur Ward, she wrote about covering black-tie balls as a Mormon who doesn’t drink alcohol and being called No Sex and the City.
Stewart Ward said she “became the Mormon mascot who could table dance for hours on no more than Pellegrino.”
